György Klapka Museum of Komárom

Our museum was founded in 1965 and today has several exhibition halls.

Our former main building, the exhibition venue at Kelemen László street opened in 1996, is now closed.

Roman Lapidarium

Our first permanent exhibition is the Roman Lapidarium in the Igmándi Fortress, where you can see sarcophagi, tombstones, altar stones, architectural elements, sculptures and other stone carvings from Brigetio.

DDR. Ferenc Juba Hungarian Maritime History Exhibition

We opened our Hungarian Maritime History Exhibition in the basement of the Town Hall in 1987, which in addition to military and merchant naval relics, also deals with nautical sports sailing. Most of the objects and documents were donated to the museum by ddr. Ferenc Juba, Captain of the Navy.

Zoltán Czibor Memorial Room

The Zoltán Czibor Memorial Room opened in 2001, displays the relics of the legendary left winger of the Golden Team. Some of these were given to us by family members living in Spain. We published a book about his life and career in 2021, including never-before-seen photos and documents.

László Kecskés Memorial House

The László Kecskés Memorial House was the family home of the museum’s founder, was fully furnished and taken over by the museum in 2020.

Brigetio Heritage Visitor Center

The offices and permanent exhibitions of the museum moved to the Brigetio Heritage Visitor Center in 2023.
